Kestrel Heights Elementary School is a wonderful place to be. Our theme for the 2015-2016 School Year is: Time to SOAR. With this thought in mind, that we hope to give time and space for students to master skills, explore new thoughts, and create positive connections with others. We understand that these things do not happen over night and we want to allow the opportunity for our students and staff to grow in every way. We will do this through clear academic and behavioral expectations, standards based curriculum implementation, and keeping the Paideia Principles at the forefront of our school planning. Here at KHES, we strive to inspire creative thinking, cooperative learning and connecting our community. We are educating the whole child and we believe that they should have the opportunity to think and express themselves in the classroom. The should also have the opportunity to work with others to have discussions and learn from one another. Finally, the students should feel connected to our school and know that we care about them in and out of school. KHES is about the kids, as adults we try our best to give them guidance, wisdom and information that will help them to be Respectful and Responsible citizens in our school and in the world. We are using the Common Core and Essential Standards adopted by the State of North Carolina. We access the standards through the use of the Core Knowledge curriculum (www.coreknowledge.org), as well as, other resources. Dr. Renita L. Webb Elementary Principal Kestrel Heights School |
